Latex Care

All latex requires care to preserve the material & give plenty of wear without tears, markings & deteriorating the rubber.

Cleaning

Wash: Fill a basin with lukewarm water and add a small amount of mild, non-fragranced soap. Submerge the garment and gently agitate it, turning it inside out to wash both sides. Avoid using dish soap with heavy perfumes or harsh chemicals, as they can damage the material. 

Rinse: Thoroughly rinse the garment with fresh, cool water to remove all soap residue. 

Dry: Gently squeeze out excess water and let the garment air-dry completely. Hang it or lay it on a clean towel. Do not use a tumble dryer, iron, or direct heat sources like radiators, as this can melt the latex. 

After washing: Once completely dry, apply a latex-specific shine product for a glossy finish or dust with talcum powder to prevent the surfaces from sticking together. 

Storing

Location: Keep latex in a cool, dry, and dark place away from direct sunlight or heat sources. 

Protection: Store in a breathable garment bag. Avoid folding for long periods if possible; if you must, place a soft, non-abrasive fabric between the folds to prevent creases. 

Sticking: To prevent sticking, dust the inside and outside of the garment with talc before storing it long-term. 

Important precautions

Avoid oils: Never use oil-based products like baby oil or petroleum jelly, as they will damage latex. 

Protect from damage: Keep latex away from sharp objects like long fingernails, jewelry, or zippers. 

Prevent stains: Avoid contact with hairspray, perfumes, and certain metals, especially copper. 

Wear with care: When dressing, use a silicone-based lubricant or dressing aid to help the garment slide on without tearing.

Yes. If you see an item you'd like with a variation you dont see in stock, please feel free to contact us via Latex@sloanofart.co.uk & as long as we have all the materials in stock, we can build your piece in a matter of days.
